Connection Center
Conservation is losing ground in communities disconnected from nature. The Chihuahuan Desert, one of the most biodiverse yet fragile ecosystems in North America, faces increasing threats. Many children in El Paso and surrounding areas lack safe access to meaningful outdoor experiences or hands-on animal encounters. We’re responding with a model built entirely around one belief: You protect what you are connected to.
The Conservation Connection Center addresses this challenge by integrating a connection with animals, nature walks, outdoor and indoor wellness activities, and conservation education into accessible sites. Our goal is not only to nurture environmental awareness but also to restore human health and resilience through nature.
The Conservation Connection Center will host an array of programs designed to promote health, mindfulness, and social connection:
- Bunny & Goat Yoga: Mindfulness and physical wellness in a unique setting overlooking the ostrich exhibit
- Movie Nights: Family friendly screenings with environmental themes, fostering social wellness
- Nature Walks: Guided walks promoting physical activity, stress relief, and ecological awareness.
- Field Trips & Workshops: Hands-on outdoor learning that reduces screen time and strengthens children’s mental health and curiosity.
- Animal Ambassador Encounters: Safe, supervised interaction with rabbits, goats, ferrets, reptiles, and birds that build empathy and reduce anxiety, as well as fostering long lasting environmental stewardship.
